Tayseer Barakat

Barakat was born in Jabalia Refugee Camp in Gaza Strip in 1959. He received his B.A. in Oil Painting from the College of Fine Art in Alexandria, Egypt.

 

He is a founding member of the artist group “New Vision” and Al Wasiti Art Center in Jerusalem. Barakat taught art at the Women’s Community College in Ramallah. He had several solo exhibitions locally and in Italy.

 

He was the first Palestinian participant at the 1996 International Biennial of Sao Paolo, Brazil. He participated in several group exhibitions in Arabic countries, Europe, Japan, and USA.

 

Barakat currently lives in Ramallah.
